Q: Will installing a security system in my home qualify me for a discount on my homeowners insurance?

A: Depending on the type of security system you may be eligible for as much as a 20% discount on your homeowners insurance.

 

Q: What is the difference between monitoring on POTS (standard phone line) or VoIP (cable/internet) phone systems and using wireless technology to monitor the alarm?

A: Standard phone lines are becoming a product of the past. Many consumers are switching to the more cost effective VoIP system or simply using personal cell phones instead of a land line. To accommodate the changing technologies, we now offer Cellular monitoring which is much more reliable and much more difficult for a potential burglars to disable. Once you are monitored by our cell units you have so much more capabilities and control of your system. Through a very easy to use website you can control your alarm system, view event logs, Arm/Disarm the system, set up automatic alerts via text or e-mail and so much more. You can even access these features by downloading the application for the I-phone/Blackberry or simply using the mobile phone website.

 

Q: Why do I need to have my security system monitored?

A: Professional monitoring of your security system ensures that there will be a response any time the system is triggered. Typically when your alarm is triggered your monitoring company will call and ask for your security password and give you the option to dispatch the local police. If no one answers when they call or if they are given the wrong password they will dispatch the local police to your location. Without monitoring your alarm siren or bell could sound indefinitely before anyone responds, giving the perpetrator ample time to leave the premise with stolen property.

 

Q: Which is better, a wireless or hardwired security system?

A: Wireless technology has advanced and come a long way since it was first introduced. It is now very reliable and transmits through an RF signal making it the perfect alternative to a hardwired system. Many new home or office builders are installing security systems or pre-wiring during construction. Installing a hardwired security system in older homes or offices, however, can be difficult and more costly.

 

Q: Do I need a permit for my alarm system?

A: Many Counties or Cities require a Burglar Alarm Permit to be submitted prior to installation or reconnect of monitoring services. There may be fees or fines associated with the permit requirements. These costs are separate from Sentinel Security Solutions, LLC.We have provided this information for the convenience of our customers with the best of our knowledge.
